Lessons
If you are boarding with us and are interested in weekly hunt seat lessons please inform our instructor and she will work with you to schedule a convenient time. If you own your own horse and are able to haul it in for weekly lessons this can also be arranged. Either way, whether you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced rider our goal is to provide lessons on your horse that are safe, enjoyable and educational. We offer lessons by a certified riding instructor for all ages 7 years old and up. An orientation class and evaluation is required for all new riders to asses their abilities and familiarize them with the proper procedures for grooming and tacking up the horse as well as leading it in hand to the arena and back to its stall in a safe manner.
ASTM or SEI approved helmets must be worn during lessons. We have several sizes available for use by our students until they can purchase one of their own. Western saddles are available for new riders until they feel comfortable enough to move on to an English saddle. All riders should wear a boot or paddock shoe with a one inch heal for stability in the stirrups.
While on horseback, we stress proper control of the horse using natural aids for effective communication between the horse and rider. Riders gradually move on to more challenging
tasks only when they have mastered the basics and feel comfortable with their abilities.
Lesson Rates Private (1 rider): $40.00 per hour Payment: Lessons for the month are to be paid in advance on the first lesson day of the month. (Note: some months may have 5 lessons.) We realize that emergencies are unavoidable but we respectfully request that 24 hour notice be given if you will miss a lesson for any reason and need to reschedule. One lesson per month may be rescheduled in this manner. Every effort will be made to reschedule this lesson at the earliest possible date. If a makeup lesson is desired it must be scheduled within one month’s time. Lessons are conducted on weekdays from 4 PM to 8PM. Call 330-264-0587 for more information or to schedule a lesson.
Group (3 or more riders): $20.00 per hour per rider
Semi-Private (2 riders): $30.00 per hour per rider
IHSA (College Team Practices) : $25.00 per hour per rider
